DDB Milan Uses Tomato to Bring Online Laundry Awareness
DDB Milan developed a mailer for Italian laundry service Lavonline consisting of a cardboard cutout of a T-shirt and a squishy tomato. Recipients were encouraged to throw the tomato at the shirt upon opening. The tomato splattered upon contact, but then regained its original form, leaving the shirt unstained. This visual created a metaphoric “demonstration” of Lavonline’s services. The mailer translated into measurable results; 32 percent of recipients signed up for the service, 8 percent used the service and site traffic was increased by 15 percent.
