A Seemingly Ageless Ringo Starr Turns 70
Ringo Starr celebrated his 70th birthday on Wednesday with throngs of “Peace & Love-ing” fans in New York City’s Times Square. At noon, Ringo appeared outside Hard Rock Cafe New York, joined by family, friends and fans, and lead the crowd in one simple salute: "Peace & Love!" At the rocker’s request, the message of "Peace & Love" then swept the planet, with people from coast to coast taking part in the moment, saying the special phrase out loud, giving the peace sign, posting it online, tweeting and more.

Step aside Ashton, Fast Company magazine has launched The Influence Project, a search for 2010's Most Influential Person online. To participate, visit the project’s website
and register using Facebook Connect; the site pulls information from the account and places their photo on a grid, sized based on online influence. To increase influence (size of photo) users must share a personalized link with others. The most influential participants will be featured in the November issue of the magazine.

Sea Life, an aquarium in Oberhausen, Germany, is generating some unusual World Cup buzz surrounding one of its residents. Paul – a “mystic” octopus – has correctly “predicted” the outcome of all of Germany’s matches to date, earning him celebrity status in the eyes of the German media.

Southwest Airlines Will Take You for a Free Ride in Denver...by Rickshaw
Southwest Airlines is partnering with Mile High Pedicabs – a rickshaw company in Denver – to offer pedestrians free rides around the city. For the next six months, Southwest-branded carts will tote people around the Mile High City to events including Southwest-sponsored movie nights, concerts, and baseball games. People who attend the Saturday night movies will be treated to free cupcakes from the Denver Cupcake Truck.

Survey Offers Insight into World Cup Hotness
As a tie-in to the World Cup buzz, online dating site BeautifulPeople.com created the “Beautiful People World Cup 2010” – an online ranking of World Cup teams based on their looks. The site also released a survey which named England’s Wayne Rooney as the "most unattractive player on the planet" and Italy's Fabio Cannavaro as the "most beautiful player."
