Coyne Public Relations is proud to announce its nomination as a finalist for the PRSA Bronze Anvil Award in the category of Media Relations > Associations/Nonprofit Organizations for its campaign in support of the 30th anniversary of the V Foundation for Cancer Research.

In 1993, living in severe pain from cancer, legendary college basketball coach Jim Valvano accepted the Arthur Ashe Courage and Humanitarian Award at the ESPYs and delivered a passionate speech marked by his fighting words: “Don’t Give Up. Don’t Ever Give Up!”®   Coach Valvano would pass away the next month, but not before collaborating with ESPN to establish the premier foundation to fund cancer research and, ultimately, help find a cure.

Thirty years later, Coyne and the V Foundation worked hand-in-hand to design a campaign that would celebrate Coach Valvano’s legacy while also introducing him to younger audiences. With a focus on storytelling through the eyes of Coach Valvano’s family and extensive network of friends, as well as putting a spotlight on oncology researchers and cancer thrivers – those who are winning their battles against the disease – Coyne and the V Foundation showcased the impact of V Foundation funding.

Linda Bernstein Jasper, senior vice president of Coyne PR, expressed immense pride in the team’s accomplishment, stating, “Collaborating with non-profit organizations that contribute to a better society has always been in Coyne’s DNA, and The V Foundation for Cancer Research is among those doing exceptionally meaningful work that will affect generations now and years to come. We are honored to share this recognition with the entire V Foundation team.”

The winner of the PRSA Bronze Anvil Award will be announced at the Anvil Awards Ceremony on May 9 at the Edison Ballroom in New York City. A full list of finalists can be found here.
